AgriLINK New Zealand Ltd was established in 2002 and is a member of The AgriBusiness Group. Our emphasis is on improving our client's business profitability through more sustainable use of soil, water and energy resources.
AgriLINK NZ achieves this goal by linking our clients with business and industry organisations, local and central government projects, as well as one on one consultancy through such services as irrigation scheduling and land use capability assessments.
In multi-stakeholder projects like the Franklin Sustainability Project (FSP) significant environmental improvements have been achieved that directly benefited the outdoor vegetable growers as well as met council and community environmental objectives.
AgriLINK New Zealand's main area of interest is resource use efficiency; this is often achieved through Life Cycle Assessments. Beyond LCA's work includes energy efficiency projects, erosion control and water management including irrigation scheduling and storm water design.

AgriLINK NZ has conducted a number of life cycle assessment (LCA) projects for the rural industry. Two recent examples were on biodiesel and merino wool. The biodiesel study, commissioned by the Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority, provides a LCA of biodiesel derived from domestically produced tallow. The merino LCA, NZ Merino Wool - Life Cycle Assessment, was prepared for the merino industry in response to customers wanting claims of environmental sustainability validated.
AgriLINK NZ is extensively involved in carbon footprinting of the agricultural sector where we use a LCA methodology.
Carbon Footprint Calculator For New Zealand Farmers and Horticulturists
This is a free web-based
carbon footprint calculator, built by AgriLINK NZ and Lincoln University's Agribusiness and Economics Research Unit (AERU). It is the first web-based carbon calculator made specifically for NZ's primary industry. NZ farmers and growers can now quickly and easily determine the carbon footprint of their operation and products. This will give a better understanding of what is having the largest impact on the footprint and consequently where mitigation strategies should be aimed at.
AgriLINK NZ has just completed for the The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority an independent international literature review into the sustainability of Brazilian sugarcane biofuel pending the introduction of legislation requiring oil companies to sell a percentage of biofuel in order to reduce New Zealand's carbon footprint.
