MAF Policy Advice
AgriLINK NZ provides advice to MAF Policy through its role as a regional Policy Agent. In addition AgriLINK NZ manages the database for the five dairy and 2 deer models during the annual Farm Monitoring as well as providing commentary on the outdoor vegetable sector. This includes the preparation of Gross Margins for several outdoor vegetable crops in Franklin. These can be downloaded from this website. The full reports are available from the MAF website under publications.
Project Management
AgriLINK NZ manages the Franklin Sustainability Project (FSP). This is a multi stakeholder project to champion and promote best practice guidelines amongst the Commercial Vegetable Growers of Franklin for the sustainable management of the natural and physical resources of this district.

The project started after a major storm in May 1996. This storm caused severe soil loss from Pukekohe Hill and sedimentation of waterways and parts of Pukekohe Township, which focused public attention on the practices of outdoor vegetable growers.
The major stakeholders are Pukekohe Vegetable Growers Association (PVGA), Vegfed, Auckland Regional Council, Environment Waikato, Franklin District Council, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry?s Sustainable Farming Fund (SFF) and AgriLINK NZ.
